Pilot 1 Success: 27 Deer Down in Whanganui Hill Country
From July 12th to 14th, Hunt for Good kicked off our first pilot with a bang, and what an adventure it was! Our team of skilled hunters—Jasper Osborne, Spok Osborne, Pauly Osborne, and Johno Osborne—headed out into the rugged Whanganui hill country, fully geared up to make a difference. With the sun rising over the rolling hills, the mission was clear: harvest as much wild venison as possible to feed families in need while tackling the overpopulation of deer in the area.
The team didn’t hold back, bringing in an impressive 27 deer over the course of three action-packed days. Every moment was a testament to the hard work, teamwork, and dedication our crew brings to the field. The terrain was tough, but with boots on the ground, rifles in hand, and eyes on the goal, the Osbornes got the job done.
This first pilot is just the beginning. The venison harvested during this trip will be processed into mince and distributed to the Tauranga Community Food Bank. Not only are we tackling the deer pest issue head-on, but we’re also filling the red meat gap in food parcels for Kiwi families who need it most. Stay tuned as we gear up for future hunts and keep pushing our mission forward—one deer at a time!
